Plini and Georgia Reed have clearly few in common… The progressive instrumental epic rock guitar player and the mysterious folk lady with a velvet voice are not exactly styles that match. Thus one common thing could be where they come from: Australia. But Sydney and Perth are 4000 km away from each other so even that can be a matter of discussion!
Whatever, the two of them make one thing pretty clear: the Australian music scene is full of surprises, and we’re so happy to be on the field to discover it for you.
Electric Sunrise by Plini
Reaching more than 100,000 views in one week on Youtube is not an easy thing to do with an instrumental tune. But experienced guitarist and composer from Sydney Plini sure knows how to deal with it! Electric Sunrise mixes progressive rock and great metal riffs with epic intensity and technique.
Must be pretty awesome to watch a Gold Coast sunrise listening to Electric Sunrise and also incredible to hear in live. That’s a good thing since Plini has planned an Australian tour and will be at the Brightside in Brisbane on September 1st 2016.
Helen by Georgia Reed
A bit reminding of London Grammar when they thundered the indie pop scene with their first EP Wasting My Young Years, Georgia Reed has not reached the same popularity yet. But with her voice capable of beautiful shifts between ranges and crazy Florence-and-the-Machine-kinda notes, Georgia Reed will for sure have its say in years to come. Her way of assembling voice and instruments results in the very soft and pleasurable folk song Helen, that we are very happy to feature today.
